SAO PAULO — Authorities say a 26-year-old drug trafficker and robber suspected of killing at least 20 people has been found dead in northeastern Brazil.
A police officer says that the body of Marcelo de Jesus Silva was found Friday in a trash bin in the city of Salvador. Both his arms had been amputated and his face was beaten.
The officer said that Silva had served time for drug trafficking and robbery and "is believed to have killed at least 20 people."
The official spoke Saturday on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the case with the news media.
He said that Silva was just a little more than 4 feet (1.3 meters) tall, and frequently shot victims with a machine gun while sitting on the shoulders of a taller man. AP
