Yes, a Buddhist monk in the traditional sense is supposed to look past all the worldly concerns such as money. However you can't take that for granted nowadays in China. Just look at the current abbot of Shaolin. I for one am grateful for the generosity of Master Deyang, you can't find many like him any more.
