Yes, I lived there back in 1995, 1997, and 1998. Possibly in 1999 also, but I can't remember. Think I moved to Decheng's school at that time, when Decheng left the wushu guan (upon Yongxin's ascension). Many of the true masters "disappeared" at that time.

    Latest prices:

    Dear Mr.Richard:
    How are you!
Now I give you the list of price for food, training and hotel in Wushu Guan.
Food:12 USD per person per day, Training:22 USD per person per day,Hotel:45 USD per room per day, Other service fee:5 USD per person per day.
If the group has over 10 persons,I will give you a good price.
    Best Wishes and thanks!
    Guo Yinhe
There are actually two prices, depending upon the time of year and where you stay.

If you stay in the newly renovated Wushu Guan hotel (they did not build the new place as previously reported, they just upgraded the old one, pictures to follow - remind me), the daily price, in the summer, will run you over 100 USD for the room only. In the winter, you could stay in the nicer place for about the same, but it would also include food and training. Food, training, and new hotel room might run over 130 USD per day.

If you stay in the rooms in the back of the wushu guan, small, but clean, the above rates apply.

I have pictures of both. Just have to find the time to put them together.

    Shi DeCheng new acommodation

Shi DeCheng has just rented a new building for his foreign students, with western standard toilets, showers etc. and indoor training halls. I'll be there as of Thursday and will try to E-mail Doc details of what they are really like, prices etc.
If it's true this will be an excellent training facility. Combining good accommodation, one of the worlds best Shaolin masters, and what Doc calls the "real deal". I have to agree with him there.
( An aside on that subject does anybody know DeCheng won a gold and a silver medal in the 1st Traditional World Championships last year? The local government asked him to compete. I imagine it's not wise to refuse! The only reason i know is i was there when he was asked. Only 6 weeks to prepare! He must be in good shape all the time, he's right at the top of the age category! I checked out the World Wushu Federation web site after the games and found his results under his family name. Two weeks later he was in France, didn't tell a soul as far as i know. )

    1. They were supposed to tear down the original Tagou, which is in Shaolin. I'm not sure when that's going to happen. It was supposed to come down a while ago.

    2. The second Shaolin village. I don't think I've ever heard it called that. It's Dengfeng. Which, by the way, is getting bigger all the time. The Xiao Long school is one of the first in the Shaolin village, and it too moved to Dengfeng. It was started by the father of Xiao Long, the then, five year old martial arts movie star. They had a performance team, as do most, and it's a popular school.

    3. Don't know that school. It's new. They come and go faster than my girlfriends. Keeping track of them is just as impossible. I don't bother anymore.

As I've said before, I only recommend Decheng's school now. I can't keep up on the others, and I know Decheng very well, and trust him. He has a good school, reasonable prices (at least I get reasonable prices for people), and the training is as good as the other places, and better, if you spend time directly with him.

Have fun over there. Look for a big bald guy. I might be coming over soon, but we can't talk about that right now...

    Hey Doc.
Got a few small questions about schools in the Dengfeng area. Maybe you know, maybe you don't.

1st. Tagao has their main school on the Shaolin grounds. I know that. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but that's where foreigners live and train if you stay at Tagao. BUT, they also have a school on that main road as you enter Dengfeng from Shaolin. Is that school in operation too. If so, I knoew they had a lot 8000 students or so, but DAMN.

2nd. You know the second Shaolin village also on the enterance to Dengfeng from Shaolin.... Well I was talking to a girl at one of those shops and asking where most of the foreigners she sees train. She said Tagao, of course, and the smaller "Xiao Long Shaolin Xuexiao". You know that one ? Located right across from this other Shaolin village. (I call it that because I cant remember the name they gave that area) Right behind the "Song Shan Shaolin Wu Xue Xiao" Do you know anything about this school (Xiao Long Shaolin), do they have monk's, performance or other ? Just curious..

3rd. There is another large school right behind this second Shaolin village. I couldn't translate the whole name from my limited knowlage of Chinese. It has a Small version of Shaolin's entrance gate as their entrace gate. Her's a pic I took.
    http://s98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...t=SANY1250.jpg

If you know anything about it, please talk. I was awed by the imposing gate.

I will spend a month or so at some point in Dengfeng of Shaolin training before my stint in China is over, so I thought I'd ask. I rather not pay the outrageous prices for the Wushu guan ot for Tagou.
    Thanks...

The wushu guan apparently has upgraded their hotel at this time. I mentioned a few years ago that they were going to do a major renovation. I'm not sure if what they have accomplished is what they wanted to do, but I'm told that at this time, the hotel there is now a 4 star hotel, and that all the renovations have mostly been completed.

Take that 4 star hotel comment for what it is worth.

People interested in training there, can stay at that hotel. I do not know what the current training prices are, however, a standard room there now goes for 680 Yuan per night.

I've seen young Hong Kong kids come with their families, and stay at the Wushu Guan hotel (they had money). The domestic section is for the domestic kids. It's the absolute ****s man. Check out the pictures of their facilities on the site.

Somewhere on the site. Use the Search feature, it should find it.

Even when we are young? imagine a foreigners of 10 years old (I m not 10, just an exemple) ask to train as a native Chinese, they would still dont accept? Is it the skin's colour?

They won't let you. That "facility" is not open to foreigners, from what I've seen.

Now, if you want to live in the absolute ****s, other Dengfeng schools will let you live with the domestic students. But even then, the prices tend to be different, and the living accomodations somewhat better. But the Wushu Guan tries to primarily cater to foreigners. They're not going to put you with the domestic students.
