there bad expirences with so called monks and shaolin schools!

Just forget thos guys. They are all the same.

They all walk around with huge egos.
They all marry their prettiest non chinese student.
They all charge way too much for training.
They all do modern wushu and call it shaolin.
They all favor chinese or minority students.
They all neglect teaching any real self defense techniques or applications.
They all charge a fortune for private lessons.
They all neglect fighting in any real match or tourney.
They all talk bad about each other behind each others backs.
They all have perfect winning fighting records in local tourney's that no one has ever heard of.

Anyone care to add to this list?

Wen where did you train and why so bitter?
Also do we know each other?

hey mortal, dont think you know me since im based in london uk! i take it your in the us?
i do not study at a school but my teacher is a monk! im not being bitter its jus that it sounds like every 1 on this site has had bad expirences with socalled monks and it sounds like that there are very few real monks out there specially outside china!

i must be one of very few people to have the chance to be close to a genuine shaolin monk!
i have known my master for 2 years and in that time with have built up a very strong master and disciple relationship as well as a good friendship, regarding your list above on how bad some of these socalled monks are, egos your right loads of these guys have huge egos and strut around and use the title monk to get ther respect, my master has no ego when we go out and meet diffrent people he is always laid back and relaxed he loves to talk about chinese culture and buddism he has a very big heart and will try to help anyone who he belives who also has a good heart! pretty young non chinese girls, he doesnt have one he is very devoted to his religion, culture and traditional shaolin arts and spreading each of these disiplines! training fees i dont pay him for tution he refuses to take money from me i get 1 on 1 lessons for nothing all he wants in return is for me to train hard and better myself!

i could really go on and on and on but i would be writing a long time,just want to no if anyone is lucky like me or has been unlucky?

Here in Guadalajara is a school that they say they have a mexican shaolin monk (born in Mexico). They all seem good persons, but i think that somebody on China are cheating on this boys.

I am telling you, they look very gentle, but that thing of a mexican born shaolin monk, is strange.

In the other way, Master Li Cun Bin of the Secular Disciple Union in Mexico, is a very respected, honest and good martial artist.

I'm half joking in my post. Like it is easy to generalize on all these guys! I know there are cool monk teachers out there. I actually liked one of my monk teachers very much and only left due to politics. lol And no it isn't Yanming!

Every Shaolin monk I've met, and I've met quite a few in China and abroad, from the 31st to the 34th generation, all have big time political issues around them. The "good" ones have it 'cause they are good and don't subscribe the PRC - SYX changes, the "bad" ones have it 'cause of the PRC - SYX changes, the "external" ones have it 'cause of ego and/or excessive commercialism and/or telling lies and/or people starting silly rumors on forums and/or a million other reasons, ... fact is they ALL swim in politics 100%

I heard Shi goulin is a fake. He was just posted here after someone noticed Shi Yan Ming's success. Shi Goulin supposedly can't perfrom real iron shirt or iron anything for that matter. He was supposedly a thief who was kicked out of the temple but later brought back...I can only assume this happened after Yong Xin got into "office" to prepare him to go into the US and make some money. He only trained for a year or so. I may be spreading rumors but I've heard this from other shaolin masters in the US.

I enjoy a good monk bashing as much as the next guy. BUT, Shi Goulin is not a fake. He might be one of the most real "monks". Shi Yan Ming informed me they are kungfu brothers for many years. Both of these men have spent a great many years training at the temple. Shi Goulin was then picked for the same performance team as Shi Yan Ming. They defected together. I notice many times different monks will say "Oh his training wasn't complete. This seems to be a subtle, chinese, enlightened monk way of dissing each other. With the end goal being that only theirs is the real shaolin.
Also I have met Shi Goulin and am good friends with a student that trains with him. He is still very much a practicing monk. He doesn't drink, eat meat or bang strudents. He is an iron body expert beyond the shadow of a doubt. He is well known for it in shaolin.
For the record when you look in many old shaolin books he is in them. Just a lot thinner. He was thin and in perfect shape when he came here. He can still move and has better kungfu then most in this country.

I never heard of him being a theif. I highly doubt it though.

lol, guolin is definately iron body. i have a video of him getting hit(by my sigungs students and a few monks no less) by a tree trunk continuously in the dan tian. if you understand your body you understand how weak the dan tian is, for one you cant condition it like you would doing crunches or something, if you dont know what the dan tian is, then it is 3 inches below the navel, and is exactly the point where boxers/kick boxers etc wear protection, and where one of the "off limit" points is for them to strike, because of this reason.

now, in small golden bell(my iron body qi gong) we also use the tree trunk as a demonstration of power of dan tian, its traditionaly done by shaolin monks also, but SGB comes from shaolin. i actually used to have a picture of ku yue cheong with a car ontop of his dantian, whith a bunch of his students standing ontop of the car..

anyway, guolins Iron Body is good therefore, as the chinese would say..GOOD GUNG FU!!
