  • What does the Peal Mean?

I have seen dragons with Pearls in there claws. What does the Peal Mean?

The pearl is meant to pacify the dragon from his loneliness.

    http://www.heall.com/soul/symbolicmythicalcrystalmeaning.html

There're loads of myths and legends in different cultures around the world surrounding the same thing. Apparently, there was once a pair of dragons... the last of their breed.. who for centuries, were peacefully living near a fishing village… perhaps in one of the undersea caves.. like Nessy maybe ....
… through some sort of tragic event the two were separated .. There are also legends regarding the disappearance of that dragon, eluding to rumours of kidnap and dragon hunters from far away lands and so on…
Anyway…because of this, the other dragon coming home from his hunt to find his partner no longer there… realising he may be alone foreveeerrr.. immediately broke down in tears andset off on what was meant to be a horrific and destructive rampage throughout the villages in search of his partner and a way to stop hurting.
Soon after the leaving the cave though, It came across an oyster fisherman on the pier opening the last of his catch. As it bent down to take a closer look, it caught its own refelection in the shine of the pearl . Noticing this, and fearing for his life ( reportedly having seen the dragons partners dragged off bound in ropes and bondage sometime earlier) , the fisherman quickly began explaining to the dragon that it was his partner that he just caught sight of.. his one true love.. who the fisherman saw just moments ago become trapped in the pearl .. .. And should the dragon leave with it the pearl that moment….. , although things would not be quite the same as they were before , they would once again be happy and together and the immortal dragon would never be lonely again. Seeing this was ‘true’ the dragon wept and was reminded of his love and that he wanted nothing but to be not be lonely forever.

So instead of eating the fisherman, and continuing the rampage, the lonely good hearted dragon, not really wanting to destroy people and their homes and towns, anyway, conceded to be content with the ‘reality’ that his lover was somehow imprisoned in the pearl, and in lieu of dying of loneliness driven hell and a broken heart, flew off with his pearl instead leaving the village in peace. And how wise the dragon was to recognise his love in time!! … thk Christ for that!
So anyway, from that day onward, the story of the dragon, and the pearl that saved the town spread throughout the lands. Now ,.. it is stiill said even today .. that if you occassionally drop a pearl down a drain or into the sea offering it to the water dragon, that the lonely old dragon will once again be pacified … and your luck will ensue.
I remember reading years ago that pagans and wiccans have a spell regarding the exact same ritual. … because of the exact same story…. and they were all the way in England for chrissake!??! ?

Anyway, I guess someone on the land heard the same story, and be it through ballshaped crystals or whatever ( as you also sometimes see dragons pictured with never wanting to be apart from their love … hence the lengths a dragon would alledgedly go to protect the crystal or the pearl ), it seems to've caught on. Dragons are apparently inherently lonely ... kindly and content with whatever BS you feed them that makes any sense enough not to hurt .. like a good fantasy and shiney things ( totally unrelated to big boobs orrr to fast cars and big houses) that they can pretend holds a love …and so they be pacified and content..

Moral of the story is :… the truth hurts and any lie will be just fine.
    cheers
