  • Liu Institute International (Shi De Ru's school)

Hi, all. I live in the New Orleans area, and I have begun searching for a worthy Shaolin school and master which offer traditional knowledge (not modern wushu) and the opportunity of becoming a true Shaolin disciple. I recently discovered this school:

Shaolin institute (SI) propagates and is dedicated to human-being’s greatest potentiality with Grit and high plain field of conscious mind. The institute teaches Zen, Chinese and the ancient arts of Shaolin Kung Fu, Tai Gong, Tai Chi (Taiji), and Shaolin Kickboxing SanShou/Sanda, Chinese ancient system of health-wellness in Zen Tai Gong, Conscious Mind-Body Healing, Nutrition, Natural Healing, Medical Qi Gong, and more…

I was excited to learn the school's master (Shi De Ru) is a 31st-generation Shaolin disciple, as there are no other Shaolin monks in the USA from this generation. According to the website, Shi De Ru is a top disciple of Shi Su Xi and a close Kungfu brother of Shi De Yang and Shi De Cheng. However, the fact that I can't find anything about Shi De Ru on russbo.com makes me a little skeptical. Does anyone here know anything about or have past experiences with Shi De Ru and/or the Liu Institute?

I know him well. He visits in Las Vegas from time to time. I never got around to putting anything on the site about him, though there have been discussions prior to this.

He's an excellent choice to train with. And truly an honorable man.

He was also one of Cung Le's San Shou coaches back in the day. It would be nice to train with him at some point.

          except for master shi deshan.

but generation doesnt mean anything. i always point to abbot shi henglin (35th gen) who led the temple in the early 1900's. and his disciple ven. shi miaoxing (36th gen).

an earlier generation doesnt mean older or wiser. just means there are fewer masters in the lineage.

DeShan has an interesting "history". He has his own story, just like some of these other guys...

You can read about it in the Forum Archive.
