Yes, and two books about him before he's forty? He's had a less interesting life than, oh, me, LOL. Ever think WHY this guy has done what he's done?

He's been on track for years to pursue his own political agenda. In my opinion, duplicitous. Don't trust him, don't like him.

Stop listening to what he says. Look at what he does, and has done. Ignore the words.

that's patently ridiculous, on a number of fronts.

less interesting...hmm...I mean he went from being the grandson of a colonial african cook, who was the first man on the paternal side of his family to don western clothing and had to carry a passbook to leave his tribal area to work for colonial masters- to being in line to potentially be the most powerful man on the planet, and he did it from completely outside the nepotism which plagues our political systems, he did it by pursuing a life of considerable public service. so yeah, let's actually look at what he does and what he did.

but again, I would raise a point about your characterization about the pursuit of public office.

      so what?

so what that he has a political agenda and is good at implementing it? I would wager 95% of ALL people who seek higher office WANT to be in office. And anyway he has made no secret of it, he layed out his plan before he held the presidency at Harvard, and subsequently when he was interviewed after getting elected- the first black man to the position. You can read many of the contemporary articles documenting the victory yourself.

But seriously, this is how comical statements can get inflated into these grand pronouncements. like anyone in pursuit of the office of the president of the US DOESN'T have a political agenda? Obviously I am not relying on his words to develop my positions on his candidacy- I am relying on falsifiable research. People make all kinds of claims, you can research it. So far, enough of the negative things being thrown around about him have proven to be rather vapid and without basis.

Let me see if I am following the implication here- he knew from college days he wanted to be president of the US, declared he was going to seek public office so that he could make what he said will be a real difference, advocate for the disenfranchised and the poor, thus stunning his peers and associates by shucking the golden pathway layed out before him to do ill paying community service work to prepare himself for assuming office, and this is supposed to be "bad" and duplicitous?

Personally I don't care if people 'like' him or don't like him, but at least have a cogent reason, not a cartoon position manufactured of Rovian boogie men, so called 'investigative' books of blatant red herrings and non sequitors.

Can this election get any more bizarre? From Fox news:
McKinney Accuses Government of Slaughtering Prisoners, Dumping Bodies During Katrina
WASHINGTON: Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney claims the Department of Defense executed 5,000 prisoners with one bullet to the head and then dumped their bodies in a Louisiana swamp during Hurricane Katrina.

Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney, known for her provocative statements when she was a congresswoman from Georgia, accused the Department of Defense this week of using Hurricane Katrina to cover up the slaughter of 5,000 prisoners.

At a news conference in Oakland, Calif., on Sunday, McKinney claimed the Pentagon authorized the execution of the prisoners with one bullet to the head three years ago and then dumped their bodies in a Louisiana swamp.

McKinney said she heard the story from the mother of a National Guard soldier who said her son was assigned to help dispose of the bodies.

"And these were mostly males and her son was afraid to talk because he had signed a silence agreement," McKinney told the crowd. "So he only complained to his mother. But the data was entered into a Pentagon computer."

McKinney said she verified the story from "insiders" who wanted to remain anonymous.

"I suspect that these are prisoners. ... So this investigation of the whole prison industrial complex is extremely important and it should not end with just a question of the nature of prisons in our country," she said to a captivated audience. "These 5,000 souls also need some justice too."

A Defense Department spokesman dismissed McKinney's accusation.

"The claim is outrageous on the very face of it and doesn't merit any further consideration," said Lt. Col. Les' Melnyk. "It would be inconceivable that 5,000 people would go missing in America without anyone noticing it prior to this."

Psychologists and psychology professors contacted by FOXNews.com wouldn't comment on McKinney's mental condition, but they expressed shock at her assertion.

"Wow! What a conspiracy theory," one professor exclaimed before declining comment and hanging up the phone.

Dr. Celia Ward, a clinical psychologist in Washington, D.C., said she wouldn't speculate on McKinney's state of mind because McKinney heard the story from someone else.

"This sounds like a game of telephone," Ward said, explaining how a rumor can change as it passes from one person to another. "But to take something that has so many questions attached to it and to treat a rumor as fact is the basis for mass distortion. It's really a good example of Swift-boating."

Ward said McKinney could have easily verified the story by checking prison records.

"This is the kind of rumor that warrants fact-checking," she said.

McKinney's presidential campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

A member of the House for 12 years until 2007, McKinney is no stranger to controversy. Shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, she suggested that President Bush knew about the plot in advance but failed to warn Americans because of his father's business interests. Some political analysts say that statement contributed to her defeat in 2002.

After McKinney was re-elected in 2004, she tried to impeach Bush, Vice President Cheney and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on charges that they lied and manipulated intelligence to justify the war in Iraq.

McKinney hit a career low point in 2006 when she was accused of striking a Capitol Police officer who grabbed her after she passed a security checkpoint without wearing a congressional lapel pin. She later apologized for the incident. She was defeated in a Democratic primary later that year and left the Democratic Party in 2007. She was nominated in July to run for president on the Green Party ticket. There are 245 other Green Party candidates running for office this fall.
Obama is starting to look better...

What has McCain done that has not served his own interests? And please don't say anything about Vietnam, because judging by the number of times he brings it up, it turns out that served his interests pretty well.

He campaigns as a simple military man who went into politics to "serve a cause greater than himself", but his dad was a liaison between the military and Washington (i.e. a politician) and he had other high-powered politicians over to the McCain house for lunch every day.

Both candidates are duplicitous and self-interested, as they should be. This is America dammit!

                Sorry.

I grew up in a time when people actually pursued careers to help others.

Times have changed. Society is more self serving now.

I think Obama and McCain are both genuinely trying to help others. I also think they're self-serving, career-minded politicians. I don't see how those are mutually exclusive qualities.

considering chinese arts but..these arts usually attract a different kind of person..instead of almost everyone which would be best for actually helping peeps.

                    • Just found out from a friend of a friend, that Obama's GPA at Columbia allegedly was 2.19

Affirmative action, which was very prevalent back in those years, would explain his admission to Harvard. And, in Harvard at that time, rules had changed that encouraged actions such as what happened with Obama and the Law Review. (He wrote nothing of significance during those years on Law Review).

To put things into perspective, this puts Obama's college record below George Bush (C+)
                      Below Sarah Palin (B+)
                      About where John Kerry was.
                      And Al Gore.
Kind of way above McCain (bottom of his class)
                      As for Biden, who knows.

Wonder why Obama is keeping all of his records a secret? Ironically, some major law, brokerage, accounting firms and medical licensing boards want to see this sort of stuff, but you can run for president and keep it all hidden.

The essential point in science it not a complicated mathematical formalism or a ritualized experimentation. Rather the heart of science is a kind of shrewd honesty the springs from really wanting to know what the hell is going on!

                          • Per the Wall Street Journal September 11, 2008, "Obama's Lost Years," Obama graduated from Columbia University (to which he transferred after his first two years at Occidental College in California), with a degree in Political Science without honors, so had a GPA less than a 3.3, and perhaps far, far lower, perhaps even in the 2.0, C range. His roomate Sohale Siddiqi indicated Obama itially felt alienated, felt "very lost," and used drugs to get high, which could have led to very low grades initially. The roomate indicates that he then turned serious and "stopped getting high." Obama transferred to Columbia because "I was concerned with urban issues and I wanted to be around more black folks in big cities." Based on his less-than 3.3 GPA, it seems likely his admission to Harvard Law School was based not on his own merit, but rather on Affirmative Action. Obama through September 11, 2008 has continued to refuse to release his Columbia transcript with the exact course details and GPA.
my first couple of years in college were the same. i barely scrapped by. honestly, i almost failed out of high school. i was more interested in chasing women, doing keg stands, and taking 3 foot bong hits. so, once i reached uni, an average gpa for me was usually around a 2.0/2.2. then, later, i transferred to temple u. in philly. by the time i was a senior, i was on the dean's list. and in grad school, i graduated at the top of my class with a 3.82 gpa.

sometimes it takes time, and support, for things to grow. i don't think his low gpa at that time matters much at all. and if i was running for president, i don't think i'd want those low grades of mine to be representative of the person i've become, either.

                            • But it explains part of his character.

Affirmative action was very big in those years (I know, I was there); and "entitlement" for certain groups was almost considered a right and not a privilege. And that seems to be his mentality: entitlement for the lower class, share the wealth, penalize the upper class. It's socialist behavior; it didn't work in Russia or China, and it won't work here.

People keep claiming how smart this guy is; he's eloquent, but not intelligent. He can talk smoothly, but can't make decisions that he sticks by. And forget about making any sort of commitments. He has a lot of people fooled.

                              • CLEVELAND — Volunteers supporting Barack Obama picked up hundreds of people at homeless shelters, soup kitchens and drug-rehab centers and drove them to a polling place yesterday on the last day that Ohioans could register and vote on the same day, almost no questions asked.

The huge effort by a pro-Obama group, Vote Today Ohio, takes advantage of a quirk in the state's elections laws that allows people to register and cast ballots at the same time without having to prove residency.
Typical Democrat maneuver. They did it in Florida and now they're doing it in Ohio.

In the Philippines and Thailand, they're more open about "buying votes". They just give people cash instead of " a ride and lunch".
