Shi Yongxin (a NPC deputy and abbot of Shaolin Temple) said that greater priority would be given to the establishment of the brand of Shaolin Temple in the new year; they would take the initiative to contact more relevant departments and individuals to carry out some influential activities during religious festivals and activities themed with traditional culture, thus further improving the influential force of Shaolin Temple.
"Praying for blessing” activities during Spring Festival such as the activity themed with “Bestowing La Ba Congee” which was sponsored by Shaolin Temple recently have drawn quite a lot of doubtful voices from netizens due to their operation by commercial means, e.g. co-organization by XX insurance company.
As for these doubts, Shi Yongxin explained, “Business is a hot topic to the public; our activities tend to be linked to business in media reports. High degree of commercialization is not very appropriate to Shaolin Temple. Our activities during traditional festivals are aimed at drawing the participation of all circles, so that more people are acquainted with Chinese traditional festivals. I believe these activities will be beneficial. After the activity themed with "Bestowing La Ba Congee”, we will hold a series of “Praying for blessing” activities during Spring Festival such as offering sacrifice to the God of Kitchen. In this way, we can succeed to and carry on the national culture. ”
