    Shi De Yang Wushu Guan - 2009-10

    Wanted to know if anyone had studied at Shi De Yang's school recently. Specifically need to know about

    * Is english a problem?
    * On site living conditions
    * How you rate instructors
    * Was it a satisfying learning experience

    Anything else?
    Last thread got carried away with the toilet conditions, so thought I'd start a new one.

    hi,

    more and more foreign students have been going every year, so now the conditions are much improved. the school is painted, there is a/c and the western toilets and showers are repaired. so its a much more pleasant experience now.

    there are only four regular coaches at the school, who are each personal disciples of master deyang. so the training is top-notch as he has quite strict requirements.

    the main coach of the foreign students knows some english, and has been improving on it. language is only a problem if you really want to study philosophy, history or anything in great depth. but its not a problem for martial arts training, which is all about action-language.

    this year there will be a lot of foreign students. a few this spring/summer, and a whole bunch toward the end of summer into fall/winter, coming from italy, usa, mexico, etc..

    i'll probably be changing dates too. september looks good right now.

    should have a full house then. at least 20-some western students between augest-september and later.

    I enjoy a laugh, but am new to the forum and need facts in order to make the right decisions for going to china to train. Those sort of comments confuse me. Can u elaborate on the whole aids thing?is it some in joke that i dont get???

    i've officially rescheduled 'til september, when ticket prices are back to normal and more students can go over. if you're still there i'll look for you!

    Maestro is being Maestro, but he's right. Henan province was one of the hardest hit provinces for AIDS infections; primarily due to poor blood supply practices years ago. Also, prostitution is "readily available" if you're willing to keep your eyes open; the last time I was there, it was far too much in the open.

    Point being, be careful. Don't get hit by a tuk tuk, and be careful who you "fall in love" with.
