BJJ is a team sport, hence BJJ schools encourage a welcoming atmosphere that accepts students from various nationalities and backgrounds. Individual BJJ competitors take part in BJJ competitions. But they practice together. BJJ instructors are aware that stronger teams are formed when members work toward a shared objective. It is impossible to develop team chemistry without mutual understanding.
