    I train there

I train there. I've been training there off and on for two years now. A couple other foreigners are training there now. The rooms are temple style (it is a temple), so it's small, but large enough to fit your stuff and a bed and it's got electricity. The shower's working now and there are seperate toilets for the training students. We live on a different level than the monks and because of the location it's quiet and the air is cleaner. If you get bored easily you can pay 2 yuan to take a three-wheeler into town. Need to know anything else, just ask.

I have much to say on this, I still have not gotten around to my impressions on this school, from my last trip.

It's a good choice. Absolutely phenomenal surroundings.

Hi. I train under Master Li Cun Bin from Secular Disciple Union. but here in Mexico. He is young, and likes modern wushu and all that stuff , but he teaches traditional shaolin, and performs better than other so called monks ( I do not like modern wushu, eh? )..
At his school there are good Masters, but surely there are the bad ones.

My advice: Do not go to China ( i've never been there, but it is my advice). There are sufficently good Shaolin Temple masters out China. For example, at US there is Doc school and good others. In Mexico, there is Master Li at www.shaolinmexico.com ( Mexico, DF ).
Master Li told me that he spend 3 years at shao hong chuan before learning other form, so you can train harder and make a life at your own country.

But if you have the money...go , just train with a good kungfu Master, monk or not.

I've uploaded some photos of Da Fa Wan Si that I took on the last trip (this past summer, with the National Geographic team I was working with). Not many shots, but they will at least give you some idea as to what this place looks like. I have video also, which we're waiting for Steve to find and produce, before we put it on the site.

Go to the Photo Library, Songshan Mountain Environs, under Da Fa Wan Si. Or use "dafawansi" in a keyword search.

Considering I'm a student of the school it would be almost pointless for me to sound off on how good the school is, but I've learned that all schools are good/bad depending on what you're looking for. I remember a year or so ago there was a student checking out schools in Dengfeng and he came over to the temple and stayed for a week. He left and went to another school (I forget the name of that school at the foot of the mountain on the road to Shaolin Temple). One of his complaints was he didn't feel like he was being pushed enough. I guess I wasn't necessarily endearing to him when I explained the teacher is not his father.

On another note, I met Cui Bin and his wife when they came back to visit (we share the same master) and he is a very good teacher. His Spanish is far better than my Chinese!

                    Hi PocTai.

Yes, Master Li Cun Bin spanish is getting better every time. Master Li's wife, Alina is going to have a heart surgery at 19 April. Let's pray for her.

The Da Fa Wen Si temple, where Heng Jun's foreign students have been training for the past two years or so, is now closed to the public. The road to the temple has been closed to prevent access to the area. It has to do with an abnormally dry winter, and the fear of fire.

Not sure when it will reopen.
