Photoshop it and zoom in. It's obviously old, you can see the film and development marks on the image. But, I'm just trying to imagine the picture angle here, and what mountain would be in the background. If this is Shaolin, the picture had to be taken from the western tower, with the one mountain in the background. But the angle of the slope seems different to me, and, there really doesn't appear to be anything growing on that pictured mountain.
It's possible, and if it's so, then the Shaolin area was far different vegetation wise than it is now. Compare with the attached picture, that I took in 2004, which looks northwest. The picture that Uwe submitted, must look the other direction, towards the northeast, which is the only mountain that comes close, to some degree, in matching.
