[QUOTE=shaolinstylee]quick question, how do you know what it did look like? Who was doing it?[/QUOTE/]

Damo for a start, DeQian for a second and many others between and since . Not buying the arguement because I'll probably fight ity to the death ( ) but I know you know exactly what I'm saying. Before macdojos and 'Cultural Revoloutions' and fear and loathing and international trade obilgations and need to grovel and comprimise and progressive comfortable ignorance since , such lovely displays of moderisation and exposure , Buddhism used to be a solely ascetic practice and so was it's gongfu . Now stop making me offend ppl !! Score : one bite Stylee and one win realism.

That was absolutelt devoid of any content.

You jotted down a list of things that may or may not have effected Shaolin, but made no attempt to answer the question about how you know what old shaolin looked like. It may well have looked different than what just about everyone teaches today, but you sound as if you know what it looks like. How do you know what old shaolin looks like? How do you know that De Qian does it the way Damo did it?

This is just rehashing old discussions really, but considering shaolin has now over 3-400 + styles in their curriculum as a whole art , which person "can" say they have the "complete" shaolin package??

Not to mention that it's changing all the time. Who was the master who hacks up his forms for speed and beauty? Since these masters hold the responsibility of the future of the Shaolin arts, then it is my conclusion that they write and edit the curriculum.

In order to know the complete curriculum, therefore, one must know all the forms several different ways.

Of course it's easy to say no one now kows it, but there was a time when one person knew all of the shaolin curriculum. It was a time when all the other Shaolin monks were too lame to meditate for weeks on end.

Shaolin, has too much for one to "master". It has too much for one to even comprehend, and that folks, is why it is Shaolin. Now, there are people who have a grasp on much of it, but who really cares?

Yep, that is why any Shaolin master you see with be the master of several forms, or a concept.

                                a few forms perhaps...

a good cross and jab helps too.
