yes, if i do a quick check, i find over 370 terms that use the character qi 氣. this is why it's kind of ironic that doc has a hard time locating it, especially with all his various experiences (in all those strip joints no doubt..lol). but a deeper look into the chinese language might help.

I was told once that the word "love" has over five hundred characters associated with it. Some crazy French woman exclaimed that many years ago, while walking in Dengfeng.
Never saw much love in China either.Experienced Community organizer. Yeah, let's choose him to run the free world. It will be historic. What could possibly go wrong...

I think this is due to the fact that people dont really understand their own language. Just because good things are at their disposal, doesnt mean that they will use them for such."Life is a run. the language we speak both affects and reflects our view of the world. whether there's actually a lack of understanding in one's own language or not, that's the reality.
every language has words that have been defined in various ways throughout time, which remain ambiguous, yet native speakers etc of that particular langauge still understand the usage and meanings quite well.

Well reality is change. And people need to wake up and smell the book glue.
Every language has words that remain ambiguous, sure, but that all depends on who is reading them."Life is a run. In attack we run, in defense we run. When you can no longer run, time to die" - Shichiroji "Seven samurai"

That being said, they do sing quite loud. I wouldnt want to be sitting front seat at a chinese opera. Especially the phantom of the opera, talk about scary organs... *shiver."Life is a run. In attack we run, in defense we run. When you can no longer run, time to die" - Shichiroji "Seven samurai"

Oh yeah, definitely. There are always things like vocabulary, psychological association, etc.
It is an abstract concept, totally human, so its going to have its shortcomings, but being human i feel that it is also meant to evolve.
People should eventually be able to fully express themselves through language, some people already can.
Language is also linked to action, and interaction. Its a complicated process."Life is a run. In attack we run, in defense we run. When you can no longer run, time to die" - Shichiroji "Seven samurai"

Here's an update to this issue. A recent article from the American College of Sports Medicine:
May 29, 2009 (Seattle, Washington) — A supervised exercise program for patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) more effectively improves pain and function than usual care emphasizing rest and activity avoidance, according to a randomized clinical trial presented here at the annual meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine.
In 131 patients aged 14 to 40 years with chronic patellofemoral pain, Dutch researchers found that those who completed a 12-week exercise program reported significantly lower levels of pain and higher levels of function at 3 months and at 1 year compared with those who received "usual care" from their physicians.
The treatment intervention included exercises for quadriceps strengthening, flexibility, balance, and coordination, progressively increasing in complexity over time. Usual care, consistent with clinical guidelines for general practitioners in the Netherlands, included verbal and written information about patellofemoral pain and recommendations to avoid activities that provoke pain.
"Our outcome supports the use of supervised exercise therapy instead of a 'wait and see' approach," Robbart van Linschoten, MD, a sports medicine general practitioner at Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, said during his presentation.Experienced Community organizer.
