alright. it seems almost sacriligious for me to open a line on a matter as grave as this, but i am a man of reason and do not believe that i could jinx the matter by doing so.

terrell owens, certainly the most influential offseason acquisition by a football team this season, and possibly in the last 5 years, is injured. it's a high ankle sprain and a not-too-badly-fractured fibula. normally this would put someone out of commission for quite a while, but T.O., being the finely-tuned athlete that he is, may recover in time to play in the superbowl. will he?

please keep in mind that due to the nature of this bet, all bets must be placed before the beginning of the playoffs. i set the payout date for after the superbowl, but if, for instance, it becomes clear that the eagles won't go to the superbowl, i'll change the payout date and pay the winners accordingly. also, to clarify, T.O. only needs to play for one snap (play) in a game for me to consider him having played in the game. if he runs a fly route in the NFC Championship Game and breaks his neck and dies without even catching the ball, you will still win if you bet that he will play before the superbowl.

in all seriousness, that is the probability. T.O. playing in the superbowl was described by the eagles' trainer to be a "best-case scenario". i'm giving it 3 to 2 odds for the time being because of T.O.'s excellent history when it comes to injuries, combined with his obvious fervent desire to play in the superbowl.

i'm adjusting the odds for his SB return to 4 to 1, in light of a press conference yesterday with the surgeon who put the screws in T.O.'s ankle.

also, a brief history note:

the last time the eagles played the vikings in the playoffs, it was in the same round of the playoffs (divisional), and was in philly. the eagles won and went on to play in the superbowl.
