5 students will live and train with Master Yang, Jwing-Ming, Ph.D for an unprecedented 10-year training program. Graduating students will be awarded an academic Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese Martial Arts.
Interesting but is anyone likely to commit (and actually stick with it) to a 10 year program these days? Life has a habit of getting in the way of such plans..
i wonder how this is going? I wonder if anyone actually sumbitted essays or if people even had 30 gs to cough up for the first year of training...yeah I dont think so...
I saw a similar ad in blackbelt mag, but instead, the art was karate. it went something like, over 18, three years of intense training, and it was free, paid travel to japan, room and board... and the funny thing was, they advised against it if you had kids or an actual life, and the ideal person would be one with nothing to lose. i thought it sounded crazy. so if you see some ryu lookin dude walking down the street in an old beatup gi, thats probably him.
hell, i wouldve went if i were still 18. but this chinese guy looks like he's gonna charge an arm and a leg for what he's asking.

"In order to guarantee the completion of the program, a student must pay $30,000 to cover lodging, food, and training in the first year, $24,000 the second year, $18,000 the third year, $12,000 the fourth year, and $6,000 the fifth year. There is no payment from sixth to tenth year. Normally, if a student stays for five years, he should have already proven his perseverance, strong will, and patience. When a student completes the ten-year program, he will receive his $90,000 deposit back, so he is able to begin his own business. However, if a student quits before ten years, the money he has paid will be forfeited. Naturally, if a student is forced to quit due to his poor behavior and performance, he will also forfeit this deposit."
In fact, if this was something you could actually use, I mean in terms of the degree, it probably would be cheaper than college and graduate school combined. You may need to add a few years, but in the end you're getting the money back. .....just a quick observation...

At a state school, maybe....
A lot of private schools you'd spend at least 90k on undergrad alone.
The Shaolin Temple, also known as the “Shaolin Monastery” or “Shaolin Si,” is one of the most famous Buddhist monasteries in the world. The temple is located in the Song Mountains in the Chinese province of Henan and is particularly known for its connection to the development of Kung Fu. The temple gets its name from the Songshan mountain peak on which it was built. The name “Shaolin” comes from the monastery that was built in the 6th century AD by the Indian monk Bodhidharma near the mountain. learn tai chi in china
