    Yan Ming's Defection
The real reason why he defected is because he didn't want to go back to Shaolin Temple while on tour in the united state. In the hotel, he steal money from other brother monks and leave the hotel in the middle of the night. After Abbot Shi Yongxin was notify of Yan Ming actions, Yan Ming was blacklisted from the temple. This is why Yan Ming cut his ties with Shaolin Temple. Yan Ming is not an ordained monk. Like many Shaolin Masters who learn kung fu, the general entry label is "Shaolin Monk or Shaolin Warrior" You are not a true ordain monk until you take vows and receive precept branding marks. Not many true monks in this world right now. Yan Ming is a independent Shaolin Practitioner. He is not a Shaolin Monk or a Shaolin Temple representative.

Being a monk is a choice. There are certain vows to follow if you choose to be a monk, vegetarian, celibate, no drug/alcohol... Yan Ming teaches the wrong message. Yes in Shaolin history it is said that the Emperor rewarded the monks with a day of freedom, but the Emperor did not own or create the vows of being a monk, therefore just because the Emperor wanted to show a reward does not mean all monks ran off to marry and eat meat. The real monks who chose to follow the vows will continue to follow their own choice. So Yan Ming only use the term "monk" for business because people in the united states does not know how to verify his history. Its sad to say, but it seems like many Shaolin Masters from other countries outside of China respect and follow the Shaolin traditions more out of respect for the ancient culture than some Chinese Masters. In America, it is easy for any Asian person who learn Shaolin from China to capitalize off of unknowing Americans.

It is good for people around the world to carry on the ancient traditions, but beware of those who break the rules and use for their own benefit.

    Eat a D? ..

    Thank you for the suggestion.

That quote was from a member at the forum I posted a link to and my response to him. It was a discussion about ignorance, so I decided that it is relevant and appropriate to the current discussion.

I hope that de-mystifies it for you.

that's cute. at shaolin buddhism , or rather, ..buddhanature, we kind of got that bit. I guess that 's why we're such an outthere and in mongst it kind of ppl. we're saying the slaves are going to hear how to emancipate thereselves. Godknows how, but the mayans wrote about it too. the only way Iii see that happening, is for ppl to do the fukin right thing.

on a serious note though, ( lol :-)..give it a moment)that's exactly how qi works and why we need to keep levels high and finding more sources for renewal in the way of, for example, those projects you were telling us about that you plan to take on down the track. get it. wasn't it a good movie, though.
    comforting , isn't it..

Big difference between Arhat and BL.

You might want to do a search on BL in the Doc's Hospital section...

She's different, but, she's part of the gang. Along with Happeh and Moobhoktotooto, WTF his name is.

Granted, the behavior exhibited can be extreme to the point of cult like, but, you really find this in almost every martial arts school that you go to. I don't think that it's solely the instructor's fault. I think that the people that get drawn to these guys, tend to have some sort of deficiency in their lives, which makes them deify these martial artists. Martial artists, who in most cases, have a lower educational and otherwise status than the students that adore them.

The whole thing would make an interesting book. I'm baffled by the behavior exhibited by some of these martial arts students sometimes.
see this kind of comment, just like this from hvillarruel

Well Doc, it will be good to have him here in America.

And I perfectly understand the Xingwei thing. Some people doesn't know what to do with the freedom and help they have, so they destroy their lives.

Someone who i admire so much said to me: " they are like SOME of those Olympic athletes, excellent at sport, but with nothing up there"

Well, life has to continue, and you have a friends reunion to enjoy.....and a beautiful girlfriend at Thailand, i suppose.
    [end quote]

despite the same condition of how wushu got through the C.R., relies on a diminished capacity pretext. Apparently that has a place . Still on topic with this thread though, I dont know if deification is the most correct term for it, but because of the ambiguous nature of chan and individual hermenuetic relative to that, it all too easy picking to write it off that way.
Maybe the fact that ShiDeyang, in his last public address scroll called for support of the academic world, is for the exact reason that it is education and credibilty from that that sets us free in this day.
Maybe that too is why the U.N. insists laws and arms to protect ppl from those types of opinions in any officially credibile status, wherein as a result of buying into that, the best one could hope for is a diminished capacity ruling and whatever mental health action might be enforced on ppl of that subsequent.
Clearly and officially unacceptable when pressed in issue.

I 've been busy spending time recently, over the past 12 mths or so exploring the bodybuilding industry. There are also many taboo that are associated with ppl , and particularly women , and grossly due to the contraversy of their steriod use and hormone supplementation which suppresses natural hormone systhesis and release and so on.
AS a result of the that, the best that they can come up with is that they are either of diminished functional capacity themselves, or alternatively are dehuman and or genderised as a whole breed of animal.

I think that is a reeally f*cking dangerous line of reason to sell.
Although on a short break atm ( @) ) I have been comparing measurements with champion fml body builders around the world.
Musculardevelopment.com is where I've most recently been doing that.
I am still around 100- 105 lbs ish tiny. It's no secret that I am small. I cop soo much online crap for exactly that. . but, I make no apologies for it nonetheless. WE take what we need and that's that. riight down, master lu to the beer and so on.

I also recently, coming into a master of elite performance sport and exercise science / physiology started prelim trials with bulking formulas and programs but by shaolin buddhist rules and tenets.
So .. after so many years of heavy volume, I started to blow up muscularly pretty quickly.
What I ended up with , doing this for only long enough to be convinced that i could use it toward heavier gains, was , still at that weight, biceps measuring the same as the pros who are 50 lbs + heavier than me aand on steroids to've acheived that , and some nice development elsewhere aswell. .
Soo.. my point is , that a. stereotyping here off bodybuilders into this dark image of alll it can be is innaccurate to say
and that b. just like with the martial artists being allegedly conferred some sort of deitism , I think rather that it is still as with everyone else an operational hermenuetic, based ON prajna and information to date.
..as opposed to some sort of state of mutuated damage.

I'm not sure if those terms are enough for some of you to understand what i'm saying with it, but I do agree with ShiDeyang. I've heard you say before Doc, that they are peasants and should be treated as such. We appreciate your hard nosed cynicism to bounce off, however, i think with enough academic support in our corner where it doesn't come back to a finding of dimished capacity, where western educated ppl can confirm and explain and lend credence to where these running MO's are not ppl acting outside of the scope of what they can be held accountable for, and where it is not to ignorant detriment of ppl in their charge or under a discipleship of theirs, and better because they have themselves experience in running the process successfully, that would do massive things toward revolutionising the further and broader integration of these methods into westen society and consiousness.

AS for master Lu's comments : unless ppl are breaking laws, then I'm going with yes. it certainly does seem to be a good enough reason to allow ppl to act out the hermenuetic they are living. If youu dont get it.. just like why in catholic churches even that children of 8 are given wine from first communion onward, despite legal drinking ages, just like why combatitive fighting isn't for the purpose of hurting anyone, I would have to suggest that that would probably be a fairy reasonable place to start meditating.
